Bostjan’s Personal Diary, August 25th, 11pm
You heard about this. You might have seen it. But you’ve probably never felt it. Nobody talks much about this. At least not someone who’s ever really experienced it.
The empty shells behind success…
Success is supposed to be shiny, full of glamour. You feel like a thousand facking bucks day after day, you sip champagne in 1st class and bathe in pxssy juice all day long.
Except there’s a piece missing.
The part where you still know how to enjoy yourself.
Hardcore success is only possible if you’re obsessed. A burning passion that’s willing to sacrifice everyone and everything on its path to greatness. It burns all bridges. And it’s way less fancy that it seems.
The Grind. The key ingredient. Everyone talks about the grind, yet most loudmouths are full of sheit. Sure, the grind is the only way to success. But the grind leaves you empty as well.
Gurus don’t tell you that.
Sustaining the grind day after day for months, or god forbid, years, takes its toll.
You forget how to “just hang out”. Grabbing a coffee and “just hanging out and chatting”? Are you crazy, time is money. You measure every task by how long it’s going to take.
Cinema with your girl, 2 hours. Gym (commute & shower included), 90 minutes. Lunch break, 45 minutes. Afternoon nap, 27minutes. Responding to social media messages, 5 minutes.
Some of the days are so full your brain literally melts. You’re like a dumb animal after. You try to think, but there’s no juice left.
Sleeping becomes difficult too. Your body’s exhausted, yet you’re wide awake with the little voice in your head telling you to do more…
Some days you forget to eat, some days there’s not time for a shower. You forgot to reply to your best friend, and you haven’t spoken to your parents in months.
If you’re true to the grind, a time comes where the hardcore grind is not needed anymore. The business is running, other people take on some of your responsibilities…
Yet the grind’s the only thing that you know. It’s a protective armour of success, as well as a silent coffin of alienation.
You finished work by 10 pm (which is early) and then what?
You realize you don’t know what to do. Demons in your head cannot be silenced. Achieve more, scale faster, network more efficiently, 10x motherfacker…
You try watching a movie. It sucks. A joint for the 5th evening in a row stops being fun. Going to the club would fack up your next morning routine, and you’d be less productive. You literally forgot what to do if it’s not work.
You realize it’s going to take a lot of time and effort to recover…
No positive “keep-your-chin-up” advice this time. No bullsheit fairytales. I’ll end this with the encouraging words of Felix Dennis on what helps when you want to get filthy rich:
“Tunnel vision helps. Being a bit of a shit helps. A thick skin helps. Stamina is crucial, as is a capacity to work so hard that your best friends mock you, your lovers despair and the rest of your acquaintances watch furtively from the sidelines, half in awe and half in contempt.”
That’s it. Still want to be successful?
