It’s my 2nd week of finishing work in under 6 work hours. For the past few months, or years really, it used to be a lot more. It feels really great, but also kind of weird. It was similar to when I tasted dragon fruit in Bali for the first time. Tasty, but weird. Now, before I jinx it all, I do realize the hours might go up again. In spite of that, let’s explore this weird new feeling together and worry about the uncertain future later.
So after work, exercise and daily meditation, I was completely done with all my responsibilities at 4pm. Sweet, time to chill the f0.ck out! Now, as much fun as playing computer games or Tindering is, there is only so much of it you can do before you become bored as hell (thank you c0vid for severely limiting my past time activities).
The next best thing is, of course, to ponder deeply about life, its meaning and our ultimate mission here on earth. About 45min of doing that is just about right and actually way more intense than rewatching 7 Friends episodes. Today I was learning about overcoming life crises from Hawking’s “Letting go”.
OK, so I’ve earned my salary, I’ve done some non-destructive escapism, I’ve worked to become a better person, and I still have all this time. So what the hell do I do now? Knowing myself, more Friends episodes won’t help.
“If I only had more time, I’d write more…” That is one of my regular responses to my fellow entrepreneur friends when we complain about how hard it is to run a business.
I actually re-read a few chapters of my book “The Player” the other day and it was pretty good. I laughed, the story was compelling, etc. And as far as I remember, writing it was one of the coolest things I ever did – so much flow state and purpose! Of course, editing, rewriting and self-publishing was not fun at all, but that’s a different story…
So that’s it. Simple. I have more time. I like writing, so I’ll just write more! If by any chance any of my employees stumble upon this – yes, I too am a human being and have my own hobbies and passions and do not actually think about email marketing 100% of the time.
To be continued….
P.S
What’s one thing you’d like to do more of if you had more time?
